Identical Particle Interferometry at STAR
نویسنده
چکیده
We present preliminary results from a two-particle intensity interferometry analysis of charged pions and neutral kaons emitted from Au+Au collisions at √ s NN = 130 and 200 GeV measured in the STAR detector at RHIC. The dependence of the apparent pion source on beam energy, multiplicity, transverse momentum and emission angle with respect to the reaction plane are discussed.

The geometric substructure of the particle-emitting source has been characterized via two-particle interferometry by the STAR collaboration for all energies and colliding systems at RHIC. We present systematic studies of charged pion interferometry. The collective nature of the source is revealed through the m T dependence of HBT radii for all particle types. Preliminary results suggest a scali...

متن کاملINTRODGTION TO INTENSITY INTERFEROMETRY FOR NUCLEAR - PARTICLE PHYSICISTS ' Alan Katz
The Hanbury-Brown and Twiss method for measuring the radii of stars also has interesting applications in other realms of physics. Intensity interferometry, the technique used by Hanbury-Brown and Twiss for their star measurements, should yield analogous information about the angular .-sizes of excited particles and nuclei, which emit secondary particles. In this report, we interpret such emissi...
متن کاملFreeze-out from HBT and Coulomb Effects
The freeze-out of hot and dense hadronic matter formed in relativistic nuclear collisions is probed by HBT interferometry of identical pions, kaons, etc. Coulomb repulsion/attraction of positive/negative particles show up at small particle momenta and is also very sensitive to the freeze-out conditions. The source sizes and times freeze-out are extracted from π/π spectra and HBT radii and compa...
متن کاملEmission angle dependence of HBT radii: Theoretical background and interpretation
Two-particle interferometry, which exploits the Bose-Einstein symmetrization effects on the production cross section for pairs of identical bosons, has become a powerful tool to extract detailed space-time information about the freeze-out configuration of the hot and dense fireballs formed in relativistic heavy-ion collisions [1]. Recent exciting data on transverse flow anisotropies in non-cent...
